American Chestnut (Castanea dentata)
$50.00
Once the king of forests across the eastern United States, the American Chestnut was unfortunately driven to near extinction in the early 1900s due to chestnut blight. Fast-growing and reaching heights of up to 100 feet, these trees were prized for their edible nuts and high quality lumber.
Note: This is a straight species, meaning it has not been altered or hybridized to resist chestnut blight and may therefore be susceptible.
