Description
A dwarf chestnut, the Allegheny Chinkapin produces small, sweet nuts with an almond-like flavor, ripening in October. Highly attractive to deer, turkeys, and wildlife, it is also sweeter than Chinese chestnuts for human consumption. Growing more like a bush 6–12′, it is hardy, blight-resistant, and tolerant of harsh conditions.
*For successful cross-pollination, you must purchase two different cultivars, two seedlings, or one cultivar and one seedling. Important: Two identical named clonal cultivars will not cross-pollinate.
