Description
The American sycamore is one of the largest hardwood trees in North America. It can grow up to 100 feet tall, with an equally majestic spread of 40 to 70 feet. This drought-tolerant shade tree can grow more 2 feet per year and acts as a host plant for over 40 species of moths and butterflies. The bark on this tree has a distinct camouflage look due to the brown bark peeling in the summer to reveal white bark.
