Pinus strobus
The Eastern white pine (Pinus strobus) is a large, fast-growing conifer native to northeastern North America. It’s known for its rounded pyramidal shape and can grow to over 150 ft tall and 3 ft in diameter, with a lifespan of 200 years. It’s the state tree of Maine and Michigan and the provincial tree of Ontario. The Eastern white pine prefers rich, moist, well-drained, acidic soil and at least 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily.
