Balddernut is common in the forests of the midwest where shade often creates an open scraggy appearance. With more sunlight this native shrub will burst into color with spring white flowers bringing native bees and other pollinators around. Growth is best in partial sun in wet to medium soils. Bladdernut will sucker. The seed pod produced in fall explains its namesake.
